The October 2011 MLG tournament in Orlando delivered the most views to date, with 181,000 concurrent people watching online. The combined viewership for the last four MLG tournaments in Columbus, Anaheim, Raleigh, and Orlando totaled 11.1 million hours.
Streamworks partnered with MLG to deliver live, uninterrupted streams of its Pro Circuit tournaments to millions of fans online and on mobile devices across more than 160 countries. Customised coding applications were created by Streamworks to fit within MLG’s workflow, including a video player and subscription functionality, enabling MLG to deliver a seamless and reliable viewing experience.
Ray Mia, CEO, Streamworks, commented: “This is an exciting time for MLG, as eSports continues to attract more mainstream interest and viewers worldwide. Our proprietary technology has enabled us to consistently deliver superior viewing experiences to gamers and record-breaking audience engagement for the Pro Circuit tournament.”
Earlier this month, Streamworks announced a global partnership with The Associated Press to deliver its breaking news video via online, mobile and tablet devices, in order to meet the growing demand for live content from digital publishers.
